The New Year Started Off With A Bang
2008 has finally came to an end. It’s scary watching the banks fail, the stock market tanking and hearing about all the foreclosures. I’m sure you all know somebody that was affected. It was happening everywhere. There were so many companies cutting budgets, friends and families that was worried about their futures.
It’s a new year and I was thinking positively. But, NOOOO, one of my favorite blogs was shutting down, they could no longer afford to go on. I was sad to see it end. And then, BAM! Yesterday, the whole department gets called into a meeting. No we weren’t all laid off, but our hours and salaries were cut. We’re told there will be lay-offs in other departments, it was a sad day
Am I upset, yes. I’m upset seeing all the empty desks. I’m upset that I’m now making what I did 5 years ago. I know I should be happy that I still have a job. I am. I know that they told us it’s only until things get better. But considering that it’s business as usual for the rest of the company, do you think they will change the way they do business? Will they try to stay on budget and work to bring in more clients? I really don’t think so.
Oh well, just needed to vent. And by the way, I read that the Almond Cafe was moving, I guess times are changing.
Let’s make 2009 a “Million Dollar” year. Or at least bring in more than I was making last year. I’m accepting donations. You know where to find me.
