Manic for Muji
Does anybody have a favorite store they visit when traveling? For me, it’s Muji.
When I was younger, my aunt used to bring back notebooks and pens from her travels to Japan. I have friends that constantly carry their Muji notebooks with them. I had to see it for myself and as soon as I walked in the door, I was hooked. Muji’s lip balm is my favorite, I keep one on me at all times. Before I knew it, I was asking friends to bring back more whenever they’re in Japan.
I love the simplicity of all their products. Their furniture has a modern mid-century feel. It’s perfect size for my small house. Kind of like Ikea but so much better.
I was thrilled when Muji New York opened, but have not had a chance to visit. When we were in London, I picked up a couple small notebooks. To bad they didn’t have my lip balm. I guess it’s only available in Japan. Oh well a great excuse to visit Tokyo again. Next time you’re in Japan, please pick up some for me. I promise to pay you back!
